Evangelical Regional Mobile Medical Services Announces 2024 Changes

Evangelical Regional Mobile Medical Services (ERMMS), the subsidiary of Evangelical Community Hospital that provides emergency response services to surrounding communities, announced several changes to its provision of services in 2024.

Beginning March 1, 2024, ERMMS will be making some changes to services in Milton and Port Trevorton.

For the Borough of Milton, in partnership with the Milton Fire Department, ERMMS will be adding a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance with Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) staff to increase EMS services for that community. This service will be in addition to providing Paramedic staffing for the Fire Department’s existing Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance.

In Port Trevorton, ERMMS will transition from providing an ALS unit to an Intermediate Advanced Life Support (IALS) unit. IALS units carry Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (A-EMTs) who provide basic and limited advanced emergency care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.

Effective January 1, 2024, ERMMS will no longer be providing EMT staff for the White Deer Township Volunteer Fire Company. White Deer has enlisted the services of Emergency Medical Transport Solutions LLC, Selinsgrove, to staff its existing BLS ambulance.

ERMMS was launched in October 2019 in response to a local, state, and national shortage of Emergency Medical Service (EMS) volunteers. While Evangelical Community had been providing staffing support for ambulance companies from Middleburg to Watsontown with EMTs and Paramedics, ERMMS represents a long-term solution to providing consistent, high quality emergency medical services to the region.
Since its inception, ERMMS has added the opportunity to hire and provide Advanced EMTs to the region and has established an EMT Training Program in Selinsgrove through a collaborative effort with Penn College and for high-school-aged students, with SUN Area Technical School.
