WellSpan welcomes new urologists, expands access to care in Lewisburg, Selinsgrove
Expanding access to urology care close to home, WellSpan Health welcomes two local urologists into its system, who will begin seeing patients as early as Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, offering care in both Lewisburg and Selinsgrove.
The two new urologists joining WellSpan, Dr. Darshan Bhangdia and Dr. Jordan Southern, and care team supporting urology services come with multiple years of experience caring for patients in our community.
“With the increasing demand for urologists nationwide, patients often face long waits for care and that is one more reason we are eager to bring this level of care to our community through our system with providers you know and trust,” said Brian Wolfe, vice president of WellSpan’s North Region medical group. “We understand that urology can be a sensitive topic and we are here for you every step of the way offering care right here in Lewisburg and Selinsgrove.”
While the permanent location in Lewisburg undergoes enhancements and renovations, these providers and care team will initially be based at a temporary location within WellSpan Surgical Specialists at 25 Lystra Rogers Drive in Lewisburg, near WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital. Once renovations are complete, they will move to their permanent location at 3 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, adjacent to the hospital in the Professional Office Building. Patients also will have the option of making an appointment to be seen by these providers at Selinsgrove Specialty Clinic located at 21 Susquehanna Valley Mall Drive, Suite C, in Selinsgrove.
As urologists, Dr. Bhangdia and Dr. Southern specialize in conditions that affect the urinary tract in adults, and diseases that affect the reproductive system and overall wellbeing. From vasectomies to prostate exams to kidney cancer diagnoses and more, WellSpan providers offer personalized care that meets patients’ health goals backed by extensive real-world expertise. Dr. Bhangdia also supports pediatric patients for urology care and treatment.
Certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Bhangdia earned his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his general surgery and urology residencies at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He most recently served as a urologist for 25 years.
Dr. Southern, also certified by the American Board of Urology, earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in urology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Most recently, Dr. Southern has served the area as a urologist for four years.
