Evangelical Community Hospital Awards DAISY Honor for Nursing Excellence to Loyal Ramon Beiler, RN

May 20, 2024

Loyal Ramon Beiler, RN, Post Anesthesia Care Unit of the Hospital operating rooms, was recently presented the DAISY Award at Evangelical Community Hospital. The award is given to a deserving nurse who exemplifies clinical expertise and compassionate care and is recognized as a role model in the nursing community.

Beiler was presented the award surrounded by the individual who nominated him for the award, his coworkers, Hospital and Nursing leadership, and his wife and sons.

Patient Dawn Maneval praised Beiler for his exceptional compassion and understanding during Maneval’s most recent surgical procedure.

Maneval shared in her nomination, “At the start of pre-op prep, Ramon introduced himself and his voice was the primary one I heard. It was always kind, steady, and knowledgeable.”

Maneval continued to explain that she is often a difficult patient for IV insertion and on this day, getting a line in was a challenge. “I remember needing a hand to hold onto. All I did was put my hand out, and Ramon kindly took it. He did not raise a peep at what I suspect was my not-very-gentle squeezing during the several attempts at vein finding.”

Post-surgery, Maneval found Beiler caring for her again. “I am just so deeply grateful for Ramon’s sharing of both skill and kindness to help me through a very stressful, scary time. I am very glad he was working so early that morning.”

Beiler started his career at Evangelical as an EMT with what was then called Pre-Hospital Services in January 2006. In May 2015, he transferred to a Graduate Registered Nurse position on the Critical Care Unit and became a licensed RN in July of that same year. He worked in the Critical Care and Intermediate Care Units through September 2019 when he transferred to his current position of RN in the recovery room of Surgical Services.

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 in California by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at the age of 33 from complications of an auto-immune disease. During his eight-week hospital stay, his family was impressed by the care and compassion his nurses provided, not only to him but to everyone in the family. They created the DAISY Award in his memory to recognize those nurses who make a big difference in the lives of so many people.

Evangelical is proud to be a DAISY Award partner. Nurses are nominated by patients, family members of patients, as well as other healthcare professionals. Nominations are presented for consideration through a process of anonymity. The winner is then selected by a board of healthcare workers. Each DAISY Award Honoree is given a DAISY Award pin, a certificate of honor, a gift card from Service First Federal Credit Union, and a stone sculpture entitled, A Healer’s Touch, handcrafted by a tribe in Zimbabwe.

Nominations for the DAISY award can be made by patients, patient family members, colleagues, and providers. If an Evangelical Community Hospital nurse has displayed extraordinary clinical expertise and compassion, visit www.DAISYnomination.org/ECH and fill out a nomination form.
