Evangelical Community Hospital Begins Texting Program for Billing Reminders

To make communication about bills more convenient for patients, Patient Financial Services at Evangelical Community Hospital began a new way of reaching patients on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. The Department launched a new text platform that reaches out to patients who have a new balance posted on an account with Evangelical.
The messages received by patients are legitimate and being sent by the Hospital. The messages indicate a new balance has posted to their patient account and contact information to pay the bill or for more information.
Patient Financial Services based this change in communication on the fact that 95 percent of people open every text message they receive, and 89 percent of text messages are read within 30 minutes. It is a more modern approach to billing communication that also allows the Hospital to be greener in its approach by reducing paper billing reminders.
