Michele Swartzlander, Hospitality Associate, Earns First Hive Award
March 07, 2024
On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, Michele Swartzlander, Hospitality Associate, Patient and Guest Relations, was presented with the Hive Award. She is the first recipient of this newly introduced recognition.
The Hive Award is given to an employee who supports clinical and nursing teams. These individuals lift-up employees in various ways to ensure the organization can provide extraordinary care through helping fellow employees to flourish in their work. These employees serve as a model for putting the team and Hospital first.
Nominated by Deb O’Hara, Patient Experience Assistant, she shared, “Michele has made going to our Café a wonderful experience, not only for employees, but also for guests and patients visiting the Hospital.”
O’Hara continued, “She brings a positive experience to those who may need a cup of coffee or something quick to purchase to start their day. Michele’s ability to make people smile and laugh makes her a pleasure to be around and those new encounters become frequent customers. She truly is a wonderful example of outstanding customer service—excellence every time!”
Swartzlander was surprised with the award presentation which was done at the Café in front of members of the Patient and Guest Relations team, Hospital leadership, other departments, and customers waiting to purchase a drink for the day.
Swartzlander has been a presence at the Café in the Lobby of the Main Entrance of the Hospital since March 2023, when she was hired to her role as Hospitality Associate. She fills that role as well as going above and beyond to greet patients, guests, and visitors as they enter the Hospital.
