COVID-19 Eye of the Storm Painting Unveiled

July 27, 2023

The Hospital Gift Shop is offering a limited-edition print, entitled "COVID-19: Eye of the Storm," for purchase.

The print, a replication of an original painting by Pierré Experience artist Brandon Snyder, captures the image of Evangelical Community Hospital in the eye of the pandemic storm.

The original painting was unveiled in front of the Hospital Gift Shop on July 27, 2023. Brandon, surrounded by family, staff, and volunteers revealed the painting after a brief introduction from Kendra Aucker, President and CEO of the Hospital.

Brandon shared his inspiration for the piece and hope for employees, "I hope my painting can bring solace to those who've endured and suffered through the COVID-19 pandemic at Evangelical Community Hospital—patients and staff alike."

Now that the painting has been unveiled, 9"x12" Glicée prints (unframed) are being sold in the Gift Shop for $65 each while supplies last. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the sales will benefit the Nicholas Ney Fund which supports Evangelical Regional Mobile Medical Services (ERMMS) EMT training and education.

Nicholas Ney passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2021, just short of his 26th birthday. At the time of his passing, he was serving as a full-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with ERMMS. In his four years of employment with Evangelical, Ney's passion for emergency response and helping others was a driving factor in his life. He serves as an inspiration to his fellow responders and gave of himself through volunteerism with the Hummels Wharf and Milton Fire Departments in addition to his paid position. Nicholas was the stepbrother of the artist.

To purchase a print, visit the Hospital Gift Shop during its regular hours of Monday through Friday, 10 am-4 pm.

The original painting is available for viewing in the elevator lobby just off the main entrance of the Hospital beginning Monday, July 31, 2023.
