Diseases of the Ear and Hearing Loss

At WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, we also offer diagnostic testing and treatment for conditions and diseases of the ear and hearing loss. If you’re experiencing issues with your ears or hearing, our caring professionals can help.

Diagnostic Testing

Are you wondering if your hearing – or that of a loved one – is as good as it used to be? Could you have an inner ear condition that’s been causing you to lose your balance? WellSpan Evangelical offers a wide range of specialized testing to help answer those questions and more, including:

  • hearing tests for children and adults, measuring both the type and degree of hearing loss
  • vestibular testing (testing of the parts of the inner ear and brain responsible for controlling balance and eye movement), including VNG (videonystagmography) assessments of the inner ear and central motor functions
  • brainstem auditory evoked potentials testing (BAER), measuring how the brain processes sound. This test is used to help diagnose hearing loss and nervous system disorders in infants, children and others who are unable to participate in a standard hearing test
  • otoacoustic emissions testing (OAE), measuring the nearly inaudible sounds made when the inner ear is stimulated by a sound that then echo into the middle ear. This testing is often used to screen newborns for hearing issues.

Coordinated, Convenient Treatment

In addition to offering comprehensive diagnostic testing, we also bring a caring, multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of hearing loss, balance issues, and related disorders.
Our team includes a:
